I only just started looking, but the fact that I can look at reviews by genre almost made me hyperventilate with excitement. This will probably add a lot to my TBR. Not that my TBR needs to be any larger.
This is an interesting feature and I'd like to explore it more, but unfortunately this part of the site suffers from the hover pop-up affliction which makes it very difficult to use when pop-ups keep happening when I'm just trying to scroll and navigate the page. I'd very strongly request that the hover pop-ups be removed once and for all from all areas of the site and I don't understand why this wasn't done when they were removed from the dashboard/timeline/admin shelf pages.
Other than that the only suggestion I have for this feature is maybe an automated book recommendation function based on the books you already have on your shelves. GoodReads has this and it's one of the few things I actually like about that site.
And if the book recommendations took your personal star ratings into account in some way, that'd make it better than any other automated book recommendation feature I've used so far. I don't think Goodreads does that, and I know LibraryThing doesn't.
Yes that's a good suggestion Familiar Diversions. Taking your book ratings into account when recommending books would be very helpful. Though unrated books should still have some weight I think. If they are books that you are interested in but just haven't read yet, then it would make sense to make recommendations similar to those too.
Speaking of LibraryThing, once when I was fooling around on there I saw that they had a kind of anti-recommendation feature which listed books you'd be least likely to want to read based on what you've shelved and it was so spot on that I couldn't help but burst out laughing.
This looks like it could prove very interesting. I might spend a lot of time just nerdling about.. .but please, PLEASE get rid of the hovering pop-ups! It's annoying and intrusive and will cause me to avoid this wonderful new ability. Which would be very sad for me.
