I haven't gotten that far yet, but there was some evidence that he was willing to listen to the peasants or lower classes.

I agree. I just passed what seemed an odd spot where instead of protesting just the tax and war issues the speaker inciting the peasants was speaking of democracy (actual word was used) within a nearby but unrecognized Richard 's hearing where he was apparently thinking it had some merit.

That was a bit much for me. Sympathy for peasant conditions, recognition of the injustice of so many taxes for so many wars, of how bad for the country so many wars are ... that in historical context I can believe. That during the time period even the peasants were wanting to dismantle the monarchy and entire feudal system -- nope, if only because even they should know some other monarchy would just invade. That Richard was willing to listen about or in favor of dismantling monarchy ... hard to swallow.
