I've really enjoyed reading this series because I'll see the cover art and think, "ooh, I remember that one", and off I'll go down memory lane.

But for more years than I care to admit, I've been trying to track down a book I read as a teenager. I was convinced it was by Andre Norton, but none of the synopses I read of Norton's books quite matched up with my memories. But while reading the Authors whose names begin with H post, I actually squeaked out loud. There was my book! Turns out the book is The Keeper of the Isis Light by Monica Hughes. I wonder if it's still as good as I remember.

I haven't read that one. Hmmm...looks like a trilogy ( ) although doesn't sound like follows same character. Sounds like maybe echoes a bit of Anne McCaffrey as well as Norton.
Oh there's definitely a McCaffrey vibe. Teenage me loved it, but I think grown-up me would probably roll my eyes a bit at the instaluv.

I've never read Bridge to Terabithia, so I got my sister's kids a copy and myself one to a few weeks ago - they were on sale. I'm looking forward to reading it with them for the very first time for all of us.

Read it yourself, first. As in, death of major character (a child) with followup grief and trouble coping of those left behind. I bawled my eyes out when I watched the movie.

Unexpected death. one minute reading along a bit of fantasy then morphs into grief heavy contemporary fiction.

Ah, thanks for the warning. I was unaware, so I shall put it on my list for July ASAP. Thanks again.

This is a terrific idea. I'd much rather read these than the terrible Heinlein books my library seems to have bought in bulk on audio. I'd love to have some of these, for the cover art if nothing else.
