I know there are many people who read faster than I do (you're one of them). I'm a little above average in speed.
When I skim-read, I can knock off a book pretty quickly. But when I'm reading a really good book, I don't skim-read. I read for enjoyment.
Sometimes I try to read faster, but it isn't fun. I feel like I'm working. So I'll just mosey on with my reading at my mostly-average pace. I may have to spend more time reading to get the same amount finished as someone else, but since I like spending time reading, no problem!
I do the same things as both of you. I naturally read fast and can read even faster if I wish to but when reading a really good book I slow down and absorb it - like if I were enjoying a fine food.
