I heard its very emo. I think that's what's keeping me from picking this up even if I love The Raven Cycle Series.

Yeah it's pretty eyeroll inducing. The male character, Sam writes these lyrics in his head when he's in certain situations or when he's "deep in thought" lol. They're pretty horrible. The pacing is pretty bad too, just sooo slow. I don't usually give up on books but I'm pretty close to dropping this one.

I haven't read the Raven Cycle series yet, but I've definitely heard better things about it then the Shiver series.
