I wasn't at all sure the first third, but between Holmes and San Francisco I ended up really enjoying it. And I got more Holmes in this book which alone is almost enough to put it in the top 3. :)

I am right there with you. I wasn't sure, and then it ended up being one of my favorites. I still think Justice Hall is a slightly better book, but I loved getting so much of the Mary Russell backstory.
