I'm doing a cozy mystery challenge over on one of my Goodreads forums. Been looking for decent cozies to include. One of my fave southern lit settings is the Lowcountry. Hell, it's one of my favorite places period. I'm a newbie when it comes to cozy mysteries. Haven't read many. This sounds like something I'd enjoy. Cozy + Lowcountry + Bookclub = TBR soon! =)
Yes! I shy away from recommending books most of the time, but if you're looking for a decent cozy series as an introduction to the sub-genre, you can't go wrong with this series. It's excellently written and the mysteries are always well-plotted. There is a ghost, so if anyone finds that objectionable, it would be a sticking point.
If that's a problem, than I'd recommend Headlines in High Heels series by LynDee Walker (ignore the series name - the books aren't as vapid as the series name makes them sound). Not Lowcountry, but still in the south, and just as well written.
