What odd narrative gaps.

I wonder if the author just assumed that the reader would know how the restaurant thing and the financing would work, so didn't feel the details were necessary. Sometimes people who are knowledgeable in one subject don't really get how little most everyone else knows. But even if this is the case, the editor should have caught it.

That thought had crossed my mind too, but yeah, definitely something the editor should have caught, especially for international publication. I found the lack of clarity concerning Janek the most annoying though. The ending felt too abrupt because there just wasn't enough information.

It's a shame when details like that can derail an otherwise pretty good story.
