LOL! "To play the insulted liver sausage" meant exactly what I thought it would. And "monkey sandwich story" sounds like an awesome name for a children's book. Or maybe a garage band.

You know there IS a book named "Monkey Sandwich Story"!! It's not a kids book though; it's a book about historical urban myths - I'll find the title they mentioned in this book and update my comment. I thought it was a hilarious book title. :)
Hahaha, I love "furphy"! :D

"To go where even the king / queen goes alone" is something we say in Germany, too, btw.

One of my future pets will be named Furphy. It sounds fabulous when you say it out loud.

Have you ever been subjected to SEN radio? They do a "fact or furphy" quiz and they way the announcer says 'furphy' - he elongates out the UR sound just a bit - makes it sound even funnier.

LOL! I must see if I can find SEN radio.

It's on in the afternoon - 6ish or so. (MT is addicted to it - sports radio, of course)

Ah, that explains why I've never heard of it. My hubby isn't a sports fan. He's more of a stream-videos-about-board-games-and-painting-plastic-miniatures kind of guy. It's no use asking him for player stats or game scores, but if you ever need tips on how to paint your orc army, he's your guy. :)

"beleidigte Leberwurst " just simply does not translate properly! ;)

If it did it probably wouldn't sound as awesome - as it translates now it's such a wonderfully descriptive phrase. :D
