I only reason I'd pick it up is the location...and that's not enough for me. Dang, wish this series had been good.

I'm really disappointed as well. I had really looked forward to the first book: it had all the right ingredients: GREAT cover art, great Southern location, characters with interesting histories. But yeah, they just lacked sophistication in the writing...

Have you read the Callie Parrish series? I think the first one was "A Tisket, a Tasket, a Fancy Stolen Casket." I love that series and it's totally Southern. That's one of the best parts of it. When I miss the South (I'm held captive in the North - LOL), I reread them.

Hmm... it's ringing a bell, but I think it's one I've only looked at. I'll have to take a closer look, thanks! :)

I strongly recommend them. I've read the first three and have the next...two I think but need to reread the series as it's been awhile. The main character is a cosmetologist who works at a funeral home. She's a fun character and the mysteries are actually interesting. I'm not a fan of funeral home stuff, but it's handled well.
Superficial: Perfect word!
