Are you freaking kidding me?! Seriously!? What the heck is she thinking? That might just be the perfect definition of Too Stupid to Live. I'd be huddled in the corner with my phone set to speed dial the police...actually no, they'd already be on their way!

On a completely separate issue, was the author's name chosen to make sure it was one of the first authors you'd come across in a mystery department? I've wondered the same thing with the YA author Avi; I'm not saying they aren't great names...just wondering what the idea was behind them.

I wondered the exact same thing - especially with Aames being spelled with the two "A"'s. I read once that cozy author Jill Churchill (a pseudonym) was chosen because "Churchill" would appear immediately after "Christie" on bookstore shelves, so I think it's a common consideration.

The double aa was what got me wondering. I hadn't heard about Churchill's idea...but that's a pretty cagey bit of thinking.
