Thanks for the reminder re Choice Awards ... I totally agree with you on the choices that are being put forward. I don't usually read a lot of new releases, but this year I added a few that weren't listed and voted for them instead. It won't make a difference as the books won't even show, but one I wanted to nominate was Le Guins last book "No Time to Spare" in the memoir category.

I nominated it as well! Perhaps if we can get more people to vote for it it can make the cut to the next round.

After I nominated it, I went to the book page and asked why it wans't nominated. Hopefully this will get some of its other readers to nominate it as well!

Thanks! :) That was a great idea about adding the comment, too.

You're welcome!

I would love to see another vote for SAGA under the comics/graphic novels category. I'm pretty sure it will win, but another vote couldn't hurt. :)

I share your cynicism. There's usually a lot of lightweight Romance/borderline erotica in these GR awards, regardless of genre. I stopped even looking years ago.

A "Fifty Shades" book won in the "Best Romance" category in 2011. 'Nuff said.
The Goodreads Awards are a prime example of why I'm automatically suspicious of virtually every book that is hyped as an awards-winner ... or a bestseller. They're not the reason for my suspicion, which vastly predates their existence, but they embody everything I detest.
