I noticed the previews for this mostly because of that hot guy up there that used to be on that Timothy Hutton show Leverage.
I have never seen the movies. Do you need to have seen them to understand the show, do you know?
Smart Bitches/Dear Author (DBSA) did a podcast with one of the show's writers. And they talked extensively about it. It is #115 "All About the Librarians with Kate Noble".
It was really good. Hit all the fun and ridiculously cheesy notes of the first movie, and had few of the failings of the other two. Rebecca Romijn is great, Christian Kane is great, John Larroquette is great (and I don't like him much! but in this he was really good). The redheaded girl is gonna be my love-to-hate her character for a while but every show has to have one of those :)
And no, you don't have to have seen the movies at all (but there's some fun shout-outs to them if you have).
I really liked Leverage too, it was one of the few shows MT and I would make the effort to watch. And I really liked Christian Kane in it - and in Angel.
I saw this advertised here a couple of weeks ago while MT was scanning through our DVR, prompting me to shout "wait! go back!". I have so been looking forward to this ever since! Librarians and Christian Kane - I'm giddy! I think it's supposed to air at the same time here as there... must go check.
