I loved this one. Made it into my Top 10 of the year. She's such a great writer I'm looking forward to reading more from her.

Whenever I see reviews for this one I feel like I'm on the outside of the shop with my nose pressed up to the window and I'm looking in at all the happy smiling people inside having fun, while I'm outside in the rain. I just didn't get this one at all. Sounded EXACTLY like my kind of thing but I struggled with it (like REALLY struggled) and had to force myself to get to the end.

I might have to try again sometime because it's bugging me that I don't get it and everyone else has it as one of their faves.

Great review:)

Not everyone loved it for sure. I don't think theres anything odd about you for that Silver! I get that quite a lot. People RAVE over something and I'm "What? Meh!" Natural part of being a reader. I had the same feeling as you after reading The Fault in our Stars :D

Thanks Liz :)

It had my kind of thing written all over it but when it gets right down to it I just hated it. Bugs me that I don't get what all the fuss is about but it happens sometimes. I was the same way with Cronin's The Passage. I don't usually follow book hype but I read this one before all the hype and just wrote it off as a dud. Then the hype started and I thought, "WTH? I remember that book. It was pants... What are they seeing that I'm not?"

Ah well, it's not like I'm short of books, I'll just keep doing what I do and find some other books to love :)

Excellent philosophy, Silver.
I was that way with "The Secret History."

I've been meaning to read this - it sounds kind of like Marmite, you either love it or you hate it!
