Nice review! I'll have to add this one to the tbr!
Lol never mind it's already there! Good to know that it'll come highly recommended though!

This is one of my favorite YA books--one of the first I read and loved when I first got into YA. Glad you loved it!

Wesley is so much awesome! I love his character! I can't wait to read The Unbound - have you read it?

Yeah. I was so excited for it! I liked The Archived more, though it has been a while since I read both; but I recall there was a lot more Wesley and you see more sides of him too. Hope you like that one too.

I loved A Darker Shade of Magic, but I've heard that The Archived is stream-of-consciousness and difficult to read? Did you have issues with that?

I wouldn't call it stream of consciousness. It is written in the first person from the perspective of Mac, but the narrative is largely linear, with some clearly marked flash backs (they are printed in a different font). The world building is done, in part, in the flashbacks. Schwab isn't the kind of author who spoon feeds her readers, though, so there were times when I felt a little bit confused about some aspect of the story/world. It didn't diminish my enjoyment - if anything, I prefer it when authors don't explain every detail because it bogs things down.

Anyway, I didn't find it difficult to read at all. It does really pick up in the second half, so the pacing might be a little uneven, but I really liked it.

Cool, thank you - I might give it a go after all :)
