Our city's Shakespeare Company will be performing Macbeth next year and I am really looking forward to it!

We saw it performed by a high school group several years ago and even with their inexperience it was great fun to watch.
I've always been very fond of this play, the one which made me love Shakespeare. (We read Romeo and Juliet the previous year, with a different teacher, a notorious book-killer.)

Which plays are you going to be reading in the class?

This is the list we have from the professor so far.

A selection of his Sonnets
Julius Caesar
Romeo and Juliet
Macbeth
Othello
Henry IV, Part 1 (also known as 1 Henry IV)
The Tempest
A Midsummer Night's Dream
King Lear
Richard II

Looks like fun to me!

I'll also have to cover Hamlet and The Merchant of Venice on my own for comps.
Those are all excellent plays (I've had all of them in recent years).

That looks like great fun!
I've got one of these "Complete..." since highschool. Maybe next year I'll work up the courage to start plowing through it...

I would recommend going to see a play before reading it if you can. It's much easier to figure out what's going on when you see it performed.
yeah, going to a public place with lots of people, not much chance of that happening :-)
I hear they've made movies (often multiple movies) out of many of them.

I do love to see them performed since that's what Shakespeare intended. This is one time when the book isn't better than the performance. The stories come alive in the hands of a good actors.
