I wonder who is really a disgrace...:P

This breakdown in what people think "bully" actually means is ridiculous. A person who reaches out to insult someone meets the criteria much better than the person who used their own personal organizational scheme to label a book for their own uses. Also, someone should intervene about their atrocious over-use of quotation marks.
nospin 4 years ago
That was my feeling about it.

Yeah, unprovoked attack yet I am the problem.
I never stood down. Among other reasons, that was one of the main reasons for leaving GR...Tell him: "As soon as you start writing better stuff, I'll stop bashing your books. Get a grip!"

I bet this convinced you to reconsider your position on her book.

But, of course (NOT)
Char's Horror Corner 4 years ago
Ugh, sorry you had to deal with this. I would love to see how they handle a lower star review :/
Char's Horror Corner 4 years ago
Sorry you are dealing with this. Added to my "no" shelf.
Debbie's Spurts 4 years ago
But doesn't everyone know *snark* that cataloging inanimate commercial products is clearly the act of a bully? How dare you shelve their book? Clearly *gag* shelving a book is an attack and makes you a bully while the uploader calling you names like bully, idiot and disgrace is the reaction of a poor put upon hardworking individual with a very clever and original way with words that just makes me *barf* know exactly how well written the book must be. After all, if the book at all reflects the genius of the brief message they dashed off to you ...

How is a "shelf" different from a shelf? What is "reviewerdom" as opposed to reviewerdom? I notice that you are just an idiot, not an "idiot."

Her use of quotation marks is hereby suspended for one week.
LOL. I love this comment.
Debbie's Spurts 4 years ago
I don't think it's coincidental this uploader has a shelf of anger management books they need to buy.
Haha, my god, you can't make this stuff up!
Thanks for reminding me why I don't want to use goodreads! OY! You should be able to shelve however you want. This is why I like Booklikes so much more. Now if only the books offered as contests were as good.
So what does the shelf mean to you? Does the book shame someone? Is it so bad it's shameful? The word 'responsible' makes it sound other than insulting.
Debbie's Spurts 4 years ago
I know, right? For all the bully-victim-demeaning uploader knew nospin might have shelved books they wanted to read as "responsible-shaming" and just lost a customer by making a personal attack with namecalling.
She's a disgrace to authordom.
nospin 4 years ago
Pretty much sums it up.
She highlights this sentence as being among the best in her book-

“He had accessorized his life with everything but paternal instinct.”

Pretty sure you mean:

"She's" a "disgrace" to "authordom."
Naw, punctuation is an innocent in all this. She may choose to heap disregard on it by ignoring it's use, but I would prefer not to torture it further.

Irony Alert!

From the author's profile:

"Noorilhuda has done her Masters in Psychology . . . "
Maybe she's done good there, but not so much in grammar.
nospin 4 years ago
Her profile also says her books are available through KDP Select and Prime lending.

KDP Select is a program for authors with a lot of different features. I think she means Kindle Unlimited.

Not too savvy, that one.
Debbie's Spurts 4 years ago
I think the Prime subscribers KOLL (Kindle Owners Lending Library) and Unlimited are both options for books in KDP select. The KOLL is limited to one book per month requiring monthly prime subscription and Unlimited is unlimited borrows for the month (a limit on how many at one time before returning some) with a separate monthly fee for Unlimited subscription.

Both programs only pay the author once a certain number of pages are read and only for the number of pages read. So if someone borrows her book via either program and DNF's ...

I don't know about either program from KDP author standpoint. My husband keeps a prime subscription and half the time I forget to use my KOLL borrow. Outside of some publisher Open Road Media reissues of some SF&F books, I have't seen any booksof interest to me that were only in Unlimited and not that many that were in KOLL. When my library ebook waitlist dies down, I keep meaning to try my 30 days free of unlimited to get through some of the Open Road books.

Her Psychology degree isn't doing her much good if she thinks writing nasty emails to customers is a good way to behave.

I could have told her not to do that and I don't have a Masters in Psychology.
Olga Godim 4 years ago
Ouch! No surprise she is on that 'stay-away' shelf if she behaves like that.
Wow, just wow. Did you reply to her? If you didn't, I applaud your restraint.

I refrained.

Good heavens! Would that I had your restraint!

Stunning, it truly is. I'm sorry you had to deal with this but thanks for sharing and giving people a heads up.
Way to go to kick potential readers in the rear ...

Why did you put it on that shelf? What had the "author" done previously?

Insulted posters in a thread on GR. Not me personally -I just witnessed it.

Thread on blog post has been deleted.

I saw that too. I didn't shelve her book because they haven't gotten much attention, and I didn't want to give it any - but yeah, she's one to avoid.
Spare Ammo 4 years ago
She's a nasty piece of work. If you don't agree with her you're a bully and unscrupulous, too. If someone had done to her what she did to those reviewers she would be screaming all over the internet about being falsely accused.
IMO it is an attempt to intimidate you into removing your shelving. Basically she attacked you due to you shelving the book in a way that displeased her, so she called you names and insulted you - to make you feel bad and influence you into stopping. Which ticks me off.
Ladies and gents, we've been duly honored:

Screenshots have, consequently, been duly added to my non-review, which I've (also consequently) republished with an updated time stamp:

Whacko. It was a ploy for attention.
What is with her Amazon reviews? Truthfully, I don't care enough to look.
So after hearing about how she's getting all these professional reviews, and how good works speaks for itself, and we're all just friends of that dude who wanted payment for reviews and pissed off, and mean and haters and all that, no. I don't think this was about getting attention at all.

I think, like so many blow-ups, this was purely about ego.
Spare Ammo 4 years ago
Everybody report her. Please.
Her last post seems to be gone, at least on GR.
nospin 4 years ago
Strangely, it still shows under her Recent Updates
Today's rant against our collective selves for shelving her book? If I follow the link I posted earlier, it's no longer showing ...

Recent Updates on her author page gives full FB post (not linking to it)

It's gone now. Maybe it takes a while for the system to clear them all.

I got an email from GoodReads apologizing for her behavior.

Does this chick think that neither U.S. consumer laws nor EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive apply? Where somehow it's okay for her to try and thwart consumer speech and consumer boycotts, to harass consumers away from their freedom of choice?

Considering my reviews on goodreads consist of (a) pre-2013 ones almost entirely of traditionally published books in completely different genres from her books and (b) 2015 summer ones temporarily there as needed during monthly group challenge reviews, also almost entirely traditionally published -- plus I don't blog, review on Amazon, accept any free books from authors, beta read or ARC read ... weird to be included with the other reviewers or be considered a buddy/co-conspirator of the reviewer illegally posting commercial reviews in with consumer reviews.

She'd really have a cow if she saw my shelves on Leafmarks or I could use booklikes shelves again. (I didn't 1-star her books on goodreads; simply shelved as "not for me" "consumer boycott" and "usual drama"). I'm a librarian on Leafmarks but opted not to add her books there (I debated but decided obscurity was better than half-starring and using far more interesting shelf names).
I made the same librarian choice on LM. :)
Debbie's Spurts 4 years ago
I suppose -- with all the author's messages, posts, complaints and all these responses and comments -- that it's too much to hope that the author is at least flagging/reporting reviews she finds in with consumer reviews that she feels were actually commercial (paid) reviews. That's a worthwhile use of her time at least and not harassing consumers.
