Ani's Book Abyss

I enjoyed this book as well, though I found it hard to connect with the characters. But I do agree about the romance between Chloe and Jake--the resolution felt like an HEA cop-out, and I didn't really like how the whole situation was handled.
I was super frustrated that almost every, except maybe Josey, seemed to be implying that what Jake did was just some trivial matter, and that Chloe just needed time to get over it--like she was just overreacting to some trivial argument or something. And I hated how Jake's father kept telling Jake to just NOT do anything and Chloe would eventually come back to him, because she couldn't possibly have any other man to go to.
Ugh. It's like, boy cheats on girl, but everyone thinks it's girl's job to fix relationship. That didn't sit well with me.

I know! I was so mad. I had read this ages ago and didn't even remember that plot line. When it reared up I was so annoyed that everyone was acting like Jake just stubbed his toe or something and she needed to ignore it. I hated Jake's father too. It seemed to be heavily implied he cheated on his mother and wanted Chloe to be forced to come back to Jake.
I wish that Chloe had bought the house and decided to live there single. Let Jake earn her forgiveness and she could then decide what she wanted to to.
