Thanks for the review. I might make an effort to find this one on my shelves and read it. The book is rather fat, not as fat as all the other history books I own, but still fat enough to do serious damage.

Yeah, the audio's almost 29 hours, which is why I took a break in the middle for some lighter stuff because what I was doing required a little more concentration. :-/

In some ways the audio might have been good because the narrator kept it more engaging that if I had just been on my own. I thought it was good and the tone was a bit livelier than some other history books (this may be partially due to the narrator, admittedly), but you may want to plan on taking some breaks.

If you do give it a go, I'll be curious to see what you make of it. If the current state of world affairs is getting you down, maybe you can go read about the 14th century with the attitude of "well, if we can get through THAT..."
