Three stars because the writing is not stunning. The science-y parts were good, although somewhat yawn-inducing at points (but then I'm still jet lagged, so some of that may be me). But mostly 3 stars because I felt like the author was being a bit of a weasel about the personal parts. (Apologies to real weasels, I actually really like them).

Fallon admits to faking it with his family--and that his sister and his daughter have both written him letters detailing how they have felt wronged. He claims to have been trying harder recently, but that he is finding it very boring. He doesn't appear to be violent, but I have no doubt that he is concealing things, so its hard to get an accurate reading on the guy. But he does readily admit to being an asshole and seems to be rather pleased about it.
Non-fiction science with a possibly unreliable narrator? Whoa.
