I am so grateful my sojourn in restaurants was brief, guh. My husband has some great stories aboutworking in a truck stop on the Wisconsin Illinois border, which are great stories precisely because you wouldn't ever want them to happen to you.

They sound fascinating in a grotesque, can't-stop-looking kind of way. You should convince him to put all those stories in a book like this one--Truck Stop Confidential: something something about public bathrooms and infectious diseases.

Ha, no. He only worked there for a year or so. But get this: the owner was running the wait staff as prostitutes for the truckers that rolled through. Richard had no idea -- he was just some schmuck cook -- but when the place was finally shut down he was like, aha! Now a whole bunch of stuff makes sense. He was maybe a little naive.

Oh, wow. That's way worse than what I'd imagined the public bathrooms must've looked like.

Haha! I think the bathrooms were kinda alright, it was just everything else. :)
