Great review and, though I haven't read this particular book (and I probably never will), you're eloquently voicing how I feel about virtually all of the YA fiction (especially including fantasy, paranormal or sci-fi elements) that I've come across lately.
Thank you! This book really epitomized a lot of the trends that have been making me tired for a while, and the fact that it has been such an awards darling really disappoints me.
I agree (on the basis of the books I have read). It seems like the trends are morphing into a formula, and there -- but for superficial differences -- go true creativity and individuality.
