I heard the two of them together - I mean the authors ;) - are really good together. I only read one book by Voinov (Unhinge the Universe) and really liked it. I have in mind to read Special Forces (though who know when I'll find the time for that! hehe). DO you have other recommendation from him, or the two of them?

They were seamless together. Usually I spot a change in voice when authors hook up like this but there was nothing here that jarred me.

I haven't read LA Witt before (but have one in review pile) and have only read Dark Soul Vol. 1 by Voinov. I gave it four stars but it's nothing like this piece. It's dark, there's gunplay and dub-con sex play. I keep meaning to read the rest of that series and will one of these days.

I don't have anything by either of them on my to-read list but it's so long I have time to find recommendations of specific books for the both of them (together or apart).

I agree that sometimes it's fun reading something either really funny or really steamy when you just want an easy "no strings attached" short story / novella. I'm actually on the opposite concept right now having "committed" to the Lords of the Underworld series. I"m somewhere in the middle. they are really good, but they are getting longer an I guess a bit gloomier (the enemy seems to be getting stronger not weaker), I think that when I finish I'll look for the easiest book in my to-read list :)

My memory is abysmal. I just realized I have read a book by LA Witt. It was book #2 in the Riptide's gladiator series and is called "The Left Hand of Calvus". It was brutal and ended with a cliffhanger. Again, nothing like this story.

Are those the Ilona Andrews books? I get all of the PNR series messed up in my head.

With the amount we read it's logical we can't remember everything :)
How you describe the book doesn't sound like something I'l like to read :D I hate cliffhangers they drive me MAAAAADDD
