It is a level headed opinion. This is one of the reasons I so enjoy Booklikes. I feel like it is a place for authentic reader opinions because the authors haven't really even discovered that we are here. At some point, I'm sure they will, but for now, it feels like a very safe space, where talking about books is still a lot of fun!

I do enjoy Booklikes very much but as I recently discovered the BBA's are lurking and reporting to their master and cutting and pasting our posts for blog fodder. They may not be vocal here (yet) but they are still here.

If your post is reblogged it won't matter because every follower of their blog will see whatever you write. You might need to mark all of your posts "please do not reblog" until there's an option to opt out of the reblog.

You're welcome. I wish I could be as level headed when I post but I don't have it in me.
I wish I could get a list of the bat-shit lurkers...

But cleaning out your following list helps, I'm sure.

Dumb question but how does one go about blocking followers?

Thanks! I've got some work ahead of me.

I think there's plenty of fun to be had. Maybe I wear rose colored glass, but I'm not going to stop reading/reviewing books because of some snarky comments. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. I may not approve of writers/reviews who pay/take money for reviews, but I still believe most reviews are honestly written.

I lost my rose colored glasses some time in the late 90's when I joined RRA-L and read the AAR boards but you're right we all need to start focusing on reading, recommending (or not!) and reviewing more books.
I responded to your other post and just now had an "oh" moment. I wasn't aware that the BBA's or those other jerks were coming around over here, I figured they realised that their behaviour wasn't acceptable here and they have absolutely no leverage in our arena (I see BL as a place where the reviewer has the power to block and moderate comments without BL management interference... kinda like tumblr or a personal blog).

Maybe BL could come up with a feature to turn a blog or specific posts 'private' so that only those invited or already following can read or for temporary measure. That could open up a different can of worms though. I think that group sounds kind of dangerous, very creeped out that they are lurking here.

I just wish they'd implement a system where we could block a follower before they started following us. I don't even get notifications when people follow. I'd like that too.
B&B, check your settings. Last I recall, I get emails re: new followers.
Bark at the Ghouls 8 years ago
Thanks I'll do that. I get one every now and again (probably one a week - maybe less) and I definitely didn't receive a notification for any of the blue-heads.
Am I the only one who thinks BL's blocking function is somewhat ass-backwards? LOL, why can't I just block someone, instead of first following and *then* blocking? Or waiting for them to follow me? *smh*

No you are not the only one. I didn't even realize how many new followers I had until I happened to catch it the other day. It had risen to 450 from 250 something in just a few months. Most of the accounts have no face either, faceless followers just creep me out ;)
It must be the cute puppy ;-)
I get rid of all the "blue heads." If they can't bother to put in a profile pic - well it's doubtful they are planning to use a lot of BL.

I know. My avatar is terribly deceptive ;) That's my first dog Sam when he was a baby. He passed away at 16, 2 years back, and I can't bring myself to ever change it.

That's how I feel MrsJoseph.

I think I've found mine. This has spurred in me a new drive to read through my entire TBR pile and review them all. The good and the ugly. I'm aiming for 2 a week. If I cut out most of my internet time I can up that by possibly 3-4 a week. I think it's a much better use of my time and is probably the best way to handle it all (for me). The drama is a time suck and complete waste of energy. Energy I could be spending on writing reviews.
