...PBS was the reason why you got this? Please tell me I'm thinking of the wrong PBS.

Too bad about the artwork. At the very least, the artwork needs to be nice to look at.

LOL in this case PBS stands for paperbackswap! I requested it thinking it was your normal, sweet, silly yaoi. Naturally I couldn't send it back unread ;)

LOL, okay, that's a relief.

There's a reviewer I used to follow who did a great job of sorting out the crappy yaoi from the good stuff. Unfortunately, he went on hiatus more than a year ago (which probably means he's gone forever, but I keep hoping he'll start posting new reviews again). After he stopped reviewing, I picked up some stuff just based on the cover art. One of them was so horrifying that I stopped buying them entirely for a while. There's such a range of stuff out there, and the cover art won't even necessarily tell you much about the quality of the art between the covers.

Too true. The cover of this one is actually quite beautiful but some of the artwork within quite horrifying. There's one where the guy looks all soft and squishy (and slightly non-human) in one frame and almost buff in another. It's very weird.

If you haven't read it yet, you might try Wild Rock by Kazusa Takashima. The plot is filled with holes and kind of silly, and the characters are very stereotypical for yaoi, but everyone (there are two couples) is willing and it's fairly sweet overall.

Sounds perfect! Thanks for the recommendation.
