I keep my library and all my shelves in Calibre, and it has a "pick a random book" feature. Which I never remember to use, but maybe I should (you can have it pick from every book ever, or just a selection or a single tag = shelf).

Ah HA! I do have Calibre! On my to do list (you know, the one that's not vital to life so you keep putting it off?) I need to back up all my books in Calibre because that seems the safest place. It's mostly due to the fact that I haven't yet bothered to learn all its many abilities - I've used it mainly to reformat things. So I had no idea it could play the random game with me - cool!

It is entirely possible it's part of a plugin, I just have no idea which one LOL! I would suspect the reading list plugin which is all kinds of fun anyway, let's you put together reading lists of books to dump all together on the e-reader, can even be automated to add new books you pick up based on tags. Which I also don't use much, even though it's cool, and I should.

If I can't find it in the regular Calibre? I will definitely download the plugin, that's too fun to pass up.
I believe we should always turn more of our thinking over to electronic devices.

Eventually I'm sure that my ereader will be able to whisper to me that I'm not spending enough time with it. And that my paper books just aren't appreciating me enough. Because if ereaders came with that kind of audio function I'd be amused enough to turn it on - I couldn't resist.
