I had this one, and liked it.

I really love his artwork - I had forgotten how much. I had sort of hoped I'd find out in his biography that he lived in the house on the cover and had rescued multiple rabbits.

I never read this one but did read Ben and Me. I liked history even then and I too had learned to be wary of animal books by then. So anthropomorphic mouse wearing clothes or "realistic" rabbit on cover...easy choice for me. I'll have to track this down but I recommend Ben and Me; I've been meaning to reread it for ages.

I think the reason I never did get around to Ben and Me was because it was always checked out at the library (and this was back in the day when I never thought to buy a book, being a kid). I vaguely remember reading this one instead of it, just for the art. I did love the art in Ben and Me! I really am missing a biography of Larson (I don't think there are any) because I really want to know if he had a pet mouse. Just from looking at the art I'd like to think he did.

There should be one! I think he must have or been around someone who did.
