What rating did you give it?

I couldn't bring myself to rate it, because I haven't read much of it and I'm afraid the text is going to be sort of tedious in a rah-rah science kind of way. And in my mind I have this idea that it's about the superhero-like ghost image of a giant scientist, so it's doomed to seem a bit dull next to that. But I'm totally going to get around to reading this post-moving-house. (Seriously. I am telling myself this.)
I think the illustrations are worth several stars just by themselves.

I'm kind of in love with the blue and gold and the cover design too. :)

I think that's one reason why I've put off reading much of it - the fear that it's going to really be a heavy handed approach to chemical industry = always wonderful. I can take a certain amount of propaganda, especially since this is the late 19030s and not the 50s or 60s - but it's often really dull writing. What will be interesting is if it's not as boring as I'm afraid it is.
