Well there are parts that drag a bit where we get stories of Richelieu in various wars. But the gossipy details of court life definitely make up for it. I can't say anything for the historical veracity of it, but I did find multiple books online that contain similar material. (LOTS on internet archive, I'll have oodles of links.)
