It looks like we were reading Pratchett at about the same time! :) These first two books really were full of tangents.

Ha! I just commented on your's with a similar message.
Yeah, I like the later one's better because the world building has all been set up and he gets to focus on the stories rather than dazzle the reader with random fantastical bits.
