Yeah, it was not a great week for mysteries (with the notable exception of Strong Poison, for which I haven't written a review, yet).

But now you have me curious...

About anything in particular?

The humor mostly... I saw your post with the picture of the first page too and I like they way they used to write with a narrator that spoke with the reader (breaking the fourth wall is the term??). I'm also curious about the plot, but less so than the humor and writing. :) I seem to be craving humor these days more so than usual.

Well, it is quite funny. There is a whole bit in it where a lady says they have been burgled but no one believes her because nothing is missing except for some fish. So, she starts this whole monologue (all sarcasm) about how she may be a member of the weaker sex and she may not be able to tell a trout from some other kind of fish, but she knows when she's been burgled....

It is quite good. I think I may have been quite harsh with a 2* rating. I enjoyed it as much as The Secret Adversary, but I guess I was fed up with convoluted plots.

I hear you. Too much of a good thing (if iti's even a good thing) is always too much. I think I might try it just for the humor alone. I haven't read too many convoluted plots lately either, so maybe it'll come across as fresh for me.
