Yeah, I know what Classic Noir will be (The Big Sleep), and Witches will probably be Rules of Magic (the prequel to Practical Magic).
BrokenTune 1 year ago
I was weighing up Practical Magic and Rules of Magic for the witches square, but I really miss the Granny and Nanny.
Moonlight Madness 1 year ago
I am reading Practical Magic & The Rules of Magic! Or, rather, I am planning on reading them, although the best laid plans and all that!
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Indeed. All of the plans I'm making can all change, too.

I hope Baron mixes it up with Shaun the Sheep. :)
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Well, I'm sure Shaun and the Gang will make an appearance. Not sure if they mix well with the Baron, tho. One of the two is likely to take fright. ;)
Murder by Death 1 year ago
re: The Accidental Alchemist. The gargoyle is definitely gothic (and very French) but the overall book... modern day Pacific Northwest US. So it's a toss up.

Love the Baron, but I'll miss Shaun and the gang. :D

I think AA might work for monsters? Do the monsters have to be bad guys? But I don't think it's really BT's cuppa. Not a bad paranormal cozy, just light reading.
Ah! You reminded me I have Ackroyd sitting on my kindle. Locked Room it is.
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Well, I have AA on the kindle, so will read it at some point.
If there is doubt about its Gothickiness, tho, then I will switch to The Castle of Otrando.

Re Shaun v The Baron...Let me just say that The Baron may find it hard to keep the flock in check.

That voice, that beautiful, beautiful voice. ♥
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Geoffrey Holder's?
Linda Hilton 1 year ago
Yep. I adore his voice. And Ken Nordine's. I love voices.
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Oh, voices are rather special. I'll have to find out more about Ken Nordine, but Mr Holder's was beautiful.

Yeah, I have to swap my pick for the terrifying women square for a Highsmith. Reading the first couple of pages of Ripley made me realize that she really would be a great pick for that square :)
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Oh, trust me, she is perfect for that square. So, is Shirley Jackson, of course, but with Jackson you always know that it was fiction. With Highsmith, you're can't be that sure.
I'd recommend The Cry of the Owl.

So, you started Ripley? :D
Lillelara 1 year ago
Well, I have to read The Cry of the Owl then :D. Thanks for the recommendation.

And yes, I started Ripley. At the moment he is acting like a complete dork on the beach. I´m enjoying the reread so far.
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Oh, man I just read the beach scene, too. It cracked me up. He's wearing shoes and swimming trunks that H. describes as no bigger than a G-string.
Lillelara 1 year ago
Love that scene :). And it helps to visualize Matt Damon in Speedos ;). The movie isn´t as good as the book, but I have to admit the casting is spot on.
I'm terrible tracking the books I said I was going to read and what was actually read. I should post an updated list.
BrokenTune 1 year ago
LoL. It's not strictly speaking necessary, but I thought it might help me find books for "difficult" tasks as many of the books fit several squares.
It's a good idea!

So many books read...:S

Your card is insane, the Baron is all over!

I love the way the gang is hangin' with the Baron from all the different angles! :D You're burning through books like crazy too!!

Love it! Baron and the Gang so amazing!
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Thanks all. I can't believe how much ground the Baron has covered, either. I guess that is the drawback of only updating once a week.

Also, most of the books I picked this year have been very, very good. That made it much harder to put them down.
Wow, you´ve read a ton! I love the sheep gang popping in, esp upside-down.
Kaethe 1 year ago
I know, the sheep kill me
Ani's Book Abyss 1 year ago
Same. I can't help chuckling seeing the gang popping up every which way in the squares! hehe
With all the squares "read", the gang are inexplicably outnumbered by the Baron at the moment -- though I have a feeling this is one of the cards where bingos will be popping right and left all of a sudden at some point.
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Thanks all. I love the sheep / Baron combination this year, too.
The sheep are killing me! LOL
I love how your card looks. :)
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Thanks, Char. The sheep and Baron are rather cute, even if I do say so myself.
BrokenTune 1 year ago
Well, books for the squares have been really good this year. :D
Bingo in the second row -- congrats!

Woot!! Ewe did it! (wouldn't be a proper bingo without the bad sheep puns) ;-)
BrokenTune 12 months ago
Hehe. Not a bad sheep pun in sight, if you ask me. ;)

Thanks All! :)

Are you just missing the free square then?
BrokenTune 12 months ago
Yup. And I currently can't decide what to read for it. :(
W(h)ere's the sheep for the "Darkest London" call -- the Baron didn't eat her, did he?
BrokenTune 11 months ago
Oh, noes!!! :O
BrokenTune 11 months ago
Found him. Thank you!
My pleasure! Can't possibly let one of the gang go missing, can we?

And perish the thought that the absconding sheep is actually a weresheep ...
