Was that meant to be "bush" not "blush"?

Indeed. Thanks.
Fixed, I see!
I need to grab a copy of this one. Glad you enjoyed it. There's supposed to be a movie out there somewhere but I've been unable to locate it.

LOL. I do not want to see that movie! I hope you do enjoy it when you get it. :)

I love both of those quotes. What a fun book. (I'm so glad you enjoyed it too!)

Well, the "fun" element was greater in Gilded Needles (and Wicked Stepmother) but the pure tension and oppressively dark and grimy atmosphere was turned up to 11 in this one.

Yes....this one is all about the atmosphere. He was so good at that. To this day whenever I think about The Elementals, I think about that hot and humid atmosphere.

For me it is heat and sand with The Elementals. Babylon had a distinct swampy feel to it for me, Gilded Needles had that smoggy damp coldness. But there is not doubt about it, McDowell's atmosphere is one of the things that stand out from his books.

I would have liked to give the main baddie a very special name but that would have given some clues to the plot. It was a fab read right to the last page, tho. Very gruesome in parts, tho.
