You're right, it would have been a poetic way to kill him - but to end up not doing anything at all, what was the point of the book then? Well, I know not to rush out looking for her books. Yikes.

Bottome had a serious interest in psychology. I believe she was friends with and wrote a biography of Alfred Adler, and unfortunately I think used her book as a regurgitation of his theories. It makes little sense and some of it is totally laughable - like when Dr. Silla pretty much senses that Hilda had not sent the letter because she saw Hilda looking guilty when she spotter her at a lecture.... Utterly preposterous.

That does sound ludicrous. Was this part of your TBR project, at least?

Yes, it absolutely was! The TBR project is going really well by the way. Long may it last!
How is yours coming along?

Yes - the silver lining! :D

Mine is ... going. Not as fast as I'd hoped, given I'm on holidays through January, but I am making progress. If I can just stay away from book sales and kind neighbours. :D

But if it is going, then that is good! :D
