I don't think they will actually bring back dodos, tho. :( (And the scene with the tourists/hunters and the dinosaurs pretty much made me cry...be warned.)
I can't tell whether she is a Fforde fan, but the humour, MC's tone of voice, the romance element, the time travel and "academic" work all remind me of Thursday Next - just nowhere near as well-written or well-plotted! In fact, I would say this book what you might end up with if you mixed Thursday with Hogwarts, a bit of Indiana Jones, and ... obviously...dinosaurs.
Yes. There are parts that make no sense whatsoever - with characters completely acting out of character - that could only have been put in to drive the plot into a different direction. If you didn't like Fforde's deus ex approach, this one apparently does not even try to hide the machina. ;)
