Now I MUST READ THIS. Do you think the author is a Fforde fan? :D

I don't think they will actually bring back dodos, tho. :( (And the scene with the tourists/hunters and the dinosaurs pretty much made me cry...be warned.)

I can't tell whether she is a Fforde fan, but the humour, MC's tone of voice, the romance element, the time travel and "academic" work all remind me of Thursday Next - just nowhere near as well-written or well-plotted! In fact, I would say this book what you might end up with if you mixed Thursday with Hogwarts, a bit of Indiana Jones, and ... obviously...dinosaurs.
The plotting is WORSE than Jasper Deus ex Machina for Breakfast Fforde's????

Yes. There are parts that make no sense whatsoever - with characters completely acting out of character - that could only have been put in to drive the plot into a different direction. If you didn't like Fforde's deus ex approach, this one apparently does not even try to hide the machina. ;)
Oh dear! I actually thought The Eyre Affair was well plotted but then subsequent volumes deteriorated. I think I read the first three or four.

They're hit-and-miss for me. I liked The Eyre Affair and Something Rotten but not so much the others (I haven't tried the last two books, yet).

And well, I mainly read the series for Pickwick.
Yeah, everything else about the series was fun! Pock pock!

Aw geez, I have to re-evaluate. Again.
