Great review. It's a shame it didn't work for you, but as you pointed out, there were too many glaring inaccuracies for a fan such as yourself.

Thanks, Hol. It had so much potential, I think this is what irks me most. If it had been horrible from the start, it would have been a clean DNF, but it kept going with these great parts in between the weirdness.
Haha, the fanfic / pastiche thing is exactly what I just commented on one of your status updates, before having gotten around to reading your review.

LoL. Yeah, there is very little of that sort that works for me for exactly the same reasons - I can't get over the things that just aren't right.

Incidentally, I've been looking to re-read one of the the few "fan fic" books that did seem to work for me. It will be curious to see whether does. :)
Which book?

The Moneypenny Diaries.
Ooookay, I see. Then again, you're not exactly a fan of the originals; maybe that had something to do with it?

TMD is nothing like an original Bond novel ... and that is a good thing! :D

Funnily enough, I often find the book classed as chick lit, and I don't remember it being particularly geared towards that label either. So, I'm going for the re-read out of curiosity more than anything.
Chick lit because she's in love with Bond? (Shallow reasoning, but ... (shrug.))

Perhaps. Probably, but it's not actually really about the romance. It is much more about spies. I probably should re-read soon and post a few quotes.
By all means! :D
