I've had The Reluctant Fundamentalist on my TBR for a while, but unfortunately I missed your review of it. How many stars did you give it in the end?

4*, but you can't have missed it. I only read it a couple of days ago and the review should be in your feed from this afternoon. :)

Ahah. Yet another person who didn't love this b/c you made the silly mistake of reading his other work, which came chronologically before this one, in order. ;-) I completely agree with your view that this book didn't know what it wanted to be, but I was so taken by the writing, I gave it a huge pass (probably also, I love the very feel of the book's cover, which might have seduced me more than I am willing to admit.) Anyway, when I do get around to fixing my ratings (which I have to do soon or it'll be too many books and too overwhelming,) I will figure out what this one deserves. Also, I'm so torn about comparing books to other ones by the same author v comparing them to all the books I've read... Yanyhoo - great review.

Hehe. I think I still would have felt the same way about the book - that there was just something missing - if I had read them in reverse order. There was just much more, I felt, that could have been explored, such as the relationship between the two main characters, or the relationship in their new community.
