I wondered if you were still doing this project when the posts disappeared - though I understand why they did; it becomes difficult to say stuff about classic stories that hasn't already been said.

It's a great collection isn't it? It pains me to say that since Audible (Amazon) commissioned it, but really, I can't think of a better man to narrate the Holmes canon than Fry.

Yeah, we read a story every Friday and commented / discussed behind the scenes. The blogging side (on my part anyway, my reading buddy posted EVERY week) fell by the wayside - some of the stories left me with no more than "That was nice/rubbish/meh.". On the whole, tho, I think it was more of a representation of my struggle with reviewing this year as a whole. :( Not a slump exactly, but I can't say have felt like writing up reviews or posts much for much of the year. :(

I've been much the same way, although I ALWAYS struggle to say much, so it's not really different for me. Sometimes the words just fall out, but most of the time my default is exactly "That was nice/rubbish/meh." Making myself do something - anything - for each book does make it easier (for me) to do it though. Otherwise I'd live in a permanent cone of silence.

I'm the same with greeting cards of all kinds. Once I get past "Happy Birthday/Christmas/Whatever, love / me" I've got nothing. Which is why MT writes all the cards. :)

Yeah, the "making myself do something" for each book doesn't work that well for me - and it never does justice to the book. Weirdly, it's the books I have enjoyed most that are most difficult to write about.

And re cards, ... does MT take on commissions?
