I´m almost done with the book, I have 70 pages left. And I´m afraid this isn´t going to be much of a plot-driven story. The focus of the story clearly lies on the family and the screwed up family dynamic.
I´m sorry that you don´t like it that much, BT :(. I´m okay with the story and I find this train-wreck of a family oddly fascinating. But Heyer better has to explain, why, all of a sudden, old Penhallow cranked his despicable behaviour up a notch. I really want to know that and I don´t buy the reason that he is old and sick.

I've just met the two comic relief characters, Charmian and Aubrey. So, at least, there was a little change in the monotony of the story.
Now that the house is full, it shouldn´t be too long until you read about Penhallows demise.
