I love the relationship between Peter and his nephew, too (there are a few glimpes at a younger version of St. George in some of the short stories preceding this book). Clearly, in the absence of children of his own, Peter considered him his heir.

Clearly! I loved the letter he sent, even if Harriet thought it was condescending. :)
Tough love, more like -- besides, as St. George points out, he doesn't really mean half of it anyway.

We know that, but Harriet takes a while to get around to it.
