Stylistically spot-on, but more than anything else, probably the ultimate exercise in breaking the 4th wall. That one took guts -- especially with someone else's character ... and THIS one above all. * Slow clap * (as another Holmes aficionado we know would put it.)

I bet ACD got a giggle out of this one, tho, gutsy as it must have been.
I bet not many other authors' similar efforts would have been received with that much goodwill (but I agree, Barrie's just might have been -- not least because it's so obviously an hommage).

And I had to chuckle at the fact that only *one* Scottish author is detected by Holmes. Clearly the other gentleman had assimilated to London well enough not to carry any tell-tale books around with him ... only a lot of equally tell-tale Norwood mud!
