She is. And this sounds excellent -- I have my eyes on this for the same reason as you ... but had been reluctant to go anywhere near it for the same reasons as you as well!

The writing is not horrible. I still don't believe he writes women well, but I rather like his portrayal of Fiona, the main character, so far, even if I find it hard to believe that (written in 2014) she would listen to the shipping forecast at night. I'm not saying it's impossible, it just seems like something that someone older or not living in inner London might do.

Also, the main plot reminds me (a lot) of the plot of an episode of Judge John Deed ... but I'm intrigued how McEwan is going to argue the different sides here.
