Yes, I really felt for her, too. But you know what, I think I prefer to have serious issues told in a lighter tone. It didn't take away any of the seriousness in this story. Turner had a fine skill of balancing his tone, and he never sounded silly or frivolous. If he had chosen to relate that part in a more serious tone, it may have come across as overly dramatic. As it was, I liked that he trusted his audience to empathise with the characters and to understand the underlying issues. No preaching or patronising needed here.
