Perhaps I was not in the right frame of mind last night when I played the first episode, but I gave up part way through. Tennant and Sheen are masterful but I couldn't get past the feel of the thing. I'd expected dark irony leavened with implausible hope. What I got was slick smugness wrapped around a self-congratulatory "see how cleverly we've adapted this?" core.

I'll take another look tonight and see whether I'm just projecting my own current discontent and can set it aside to let myself enjoy this.

LoL. Expected a whole lot more of the smugness you describe, Mike, but it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be, and after a few minutes I just couldn't tear myself away from the Sheen / Tennant double-act.
Tennent was inspired casting fo'sure.

Ok, I've been converted. I've just finished episode 3 and I'm now in love with the story telling. All of the actors are accomplished but the chemistry between Sheen and Tennant is remarkable. I also like how Anathama and Adam fit together.

Can I add that I did not expect Jack Whitehall to be as convincing as Adam as he is?
But, yeah, the Sheen/Tennant combo was just perfect for this.
