Anna Massey's performance is fantastic. You'll love it.

Oh, you've listened to it before! I thought this was a re-read, but first time on audio. This one is definitely on my list of comfort re-reads, so I'll get back to it one of these days, but I'm currently working my way back through the Harry Potter series.

HP is also a great comfort re-read. Rebecca is one of my favourites, but I had not listened to Massey's narration in a while. Also, there is an old BBC adaptation from 1979 (I think) where she plays Mrs Danvers to Jeremy Brett's Maxim. I love that adaptation.

Joanna David plays "the girl".

I meant to watch some of the movie adaptations back when I first read the book, but the only one that was available on Amazon Prime at the moment wasn't very good and I was too lazy to actually pay for a rental. I need to put that back on my priority list.

Which one was the one on Amazon Prime?

It was a very made for TV show from the 1950's or 1960's. Terrible production quality. I didn't watch the whole thing.

The Brett version may be around on YouTube but the video quality is bad. The relatively new version with Charles Dance is decent, but the Dance-Fox pairing doesn't work for me. Diana Rigg as Danvers is the best, tho.

I'm not a fan of Olivier as Maxim in the Hitchcock film, but it is great for atmosphere. Actually, I'm not a fan of Olivier. There, I said it. ;)

Yeah I’ve never understood the fuss about Olivier.

Oh, wow. I thought I was the only one... :)
