Well, the subtitle does mention that he "met his match" ... so, that much is certain.

Btw, I just read that Thackeray fictionalized the whole story in "The Luck of Barry Lyndon.

Yes, he did. Moore makes several references to it. There were more pieces of poetry and drama about the couple at the the time. So, this was a very, very public ... relationship. Stoney was the topic of derisory rhymes before they met, tho.

Oh, and I cannot wait for the guy to "meet his match". So far, she's in no condition to oppose him.
Given the subtitle, there's bound to be a turning point eventually ... even without having read the book (yet), I hope for her it's going to come sooner rather than later!
