Which one is Anne Eliot in?
Persuasion.
Aha! I've not read that one, yet.

You're in for a treat. :)
YAY! But Northanger Abbey is up next.
Oh, no. :(

This is such an odd book, and it is not working for me. I'm sure it was written with the purpose of being a light entertainment, but the tone, mix of styles, and plot are not working for me at all.
So it seems -- what a pity. :(

LoL. There is an actual quote from Northanger Abbey in this one...credited to "a parson's daughter".

I'm not entirely sure why. It doesn't help the plot.
Hah. :)

I recall enjoying - to some degree - the style the book was written in.

The tone and conversations are so stilted and kinda unnatural. I'm not getting to grips with the style at all.

yes, I recall that, a bit...and kind of getting a weird "bed of nails" enjoyment out of it.

Oh no, I ordered a used copy on a whim just recently. I will read eventually at some point, but it doesn´t bode well that you don´t like it, BT.

This is more light romance than mystery. :I

Sounds like the perfect read for my next night shift.

Do you not need something that will keep you awake?
Lillelara 6 months ago
We have an awful bell that can wake me up from the deepest sleep, so I don´t have to stay awake all night. Normally I´m watching movies or tv series until 12 o´clock and then I read a little bit before trying to sleep for a couple of hours (if people let me sleep). So a book that is sleep inducing is a perfect choice ;).
