I'd pick the original three Earthsea books for childhood and for "middle grade" I'd pick the original three Earthsea books and for adulthood I'd pick the original three Earthsea books...

LoL. I'm somehow not all that surprised.
Flagon says, roar! Some Pesky Dragons but more that aren't!
Your favorite children's book sounds fun (and I think I might have loved it, too, if I'd known it as a kid). Heidi, though ... ugh. Even as a child, I knew the Swiss parts just had to be too good to be true, and I positively hated the part set in Frankfurt -- not to mention that the sleepwalking episode scared the living daylights out of me.

Heidi is the pits. I'm sure my earliest memory of repetitive eye-roll strain is from the scene where what's-her-name gets up from the wheelchair. Gaaaah....

I still have the book but only because it was my gran's.

Oh, and I'm also pretty sure that "Ziegenpeter" (as he's known in my family) is the first character I ever wanted to kick...
I'm feeling glad I missed this "classic!"
@Arbie: Be glad, really -- you seriously don't want to catch up on this one.

@BT: Oh, that wheelchair scene. Double ugh tripled. And I always had to laugh at the "freshly made cheese as wholesome food" thing -- as a kid, I HATED (in supersized capital letters) anything even remotely related to cheese. So that in and of itself was a big turnoff for me -- it was like "waitaminute, they seriously want me to be stuck up here without a proper bed and basically without ANYthing decent to eat? *How* could *anybody* possibly expect me to find that an even marginally attractive idea??"

Oh, yes! Omg, the cheese.... And I liked cheese as a kid, but still....

God, this was such an awful book. Quite scarring actually.
And, yay!!! Finally someone else who didn't love the book!
LOL. I really am blaming "Heidi" for the fact that it took until my teenage years for me to reconsider the question whether cheese should be included in my diet ...

Yay! Three's a club, right?
More like support group by the sound of it!
Definitely a support group. That book is seriously scarring.

I'll take "support group". There really should be one. Well, at least one.
