Woza Shakespeare!! :D

Definitely one of the highlights this year! :D
I am very glad to hear that. :)

(Especially given the competition ...)

I guess, there is something in the way that Titus Andronicus is nowhere near that list that makes Woza! come to mind so much easier.
True. Though it wasn't really about the play itself to me anyway (at most, their experience with staging the play in this location of all places -- and even that was just one part of the whole package).

And of course the book itself is about so much more than the play but it's one of those where the time and circumstances of reading can have an impact on how it is read. I read it in response to having read Titus Andronicus and so there was a relevance to me there. I'm really glad there was more to Woza! than the discussion of the play, tho.
Yes -- that's pretty much what I meant by "the whole package". I'd never have put the book on Moonlight's crowdsourced list if it had just been about the play ("personal experience" focus or not). But *this play* in apartheid-era South Africa of all places, produced by *these people* and their particular frame of reference ... it's really all of this coming together that makes the book so unique.

It absolutely is.

I'm reading Circe right now. Good to know it was one of your top one's.

I thought it was really well done and moving and thought-provoking...and so much more. It may also have benefited from my being disappointed with Barker's The Silence of the Girls which I read just before Circe.

How are you liking Circe so far?
