And re Vol. 2 ... probably most of it is skimmable if not skippable, but the last chapter and the conclusion are worth it. Tho, for a book of 700+ pages, 20 pages of conclusion seemed extremely condensed. Dare I say, it almost seemed like extensive parts of the book - i.e. Vol. 2 - didn't need to be summarised? :P
And there we are complaining about under-edited books published *now* ...

Remember when I criticised Parshley for cutting passages? I may have been wrong. He just should have left Vol. 1 alone and focused on "editing" Vol. 2. ;)

Tho, to be fair...he did condense a lot of Vol. 2 into footnotes.
Well, that's a creative approach to translation, to say the least ... But, yes, it would appear he was (mostly) justified after all!
